About CRC

The Children’s Recovery Center is licensed as a General Acute Care Hospital with a Distinct Part Skilled Nursing facility that incorporates our Pediatric Subacute Unit.  The hospital was licensed and opened in 1998 and the Distinct Part Unit was licensed and opened in March of 1999.  CRC was created to provide a transitional facility for technology dependent infants and children.  It offers a homelike environment for children and their families to bridge the transition from hospital to home.

The Pediatric Subacute program is a legislated program that was created in 1993 by Michael Zarcone to provide a safety net for these technology dependent children who previously spent most of their formative years in Intensive Care Units.  Since the creation of the Subacute program, many children have benefitted from the special care, therapy and dedication of the staff to transition them to home.
